Hello! I am thrilled to be the Librarian at Byrns Darden! I teach information literacy classes and assist students in checking out books for pleasure and for academics. I manage the Accelerated Reader program and administer rewards. My duties also include assisting teachers in finding books and materials to support our curriculum. I am responsible for ordering and circulating books, as well as other media. We have a wonderful library assistant, Ms. Pyhllis. She is extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. Thank you for your support and keep on reading!

  • Parents and Guardians: please help your student take care of their library book. Books should be stored in their backpack and should come to school everyday. Please don't allow students to eat while reading their library books. CMCSS policy requires parents or guardians to pay for lost or damaged library books. Thank you for your help!
  • READ EVERY DAY!!!

District Wide Battle of the Books! Each year the elementary schools (who participate) encourage 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders to read a selection of chapter books picked by the VSBA (Volunteer State Book Award) Committee. In May, 6 chosen students (who read the selected books) are invited  to participate in a reading quiz bowl. See Ms. Norbeck for more details!
